Yesterday we went to the Bountiful Temple to have Ashley sealed to us. These are just a couple pictures that I took before we left. More pictures to come, thanks to Everyone who helped take them for us :)...

We left our house about 2:00 and headed for the Bountiful Temple. We had tried to go over everything with the kids, but did so again on our car ride. When we were almost there we listened to the primary CD of I love to see the temple. The girls were singing so sweet as we pulled into the parking lot. We went inside and got them to the youth center where they were able to play with toys and have snacks. My mom stayed with them to help with Colter. Tom and I got the paperwork all filled out and changed into our temple clothes. I got to get ready in the brides room, which was amazingly beautiful. Then they took us to the celestial room to wait until everyone was ready. I felt so peaceful and I was so happy. It occurred to me that the feelings I was having would be exactly how I wanted to feel in heaven. Just comfortable and at peace with all that was going on around me. Then we went into the sealing room where all our wonderful family and friends were waiting...

The sealer spoke about the short process it would be to have Ashley sealed, but what a meaningful thing it was. Soon after they brought in the kids and my mom. The girls came and sat with us. The Sealer asked Brinkley what was happening and she said we were going to seal Ashley to our family forever. He talked to them a minute and then we went forward to do the sealing. She held her little hand on ours so carefully. Brinkley stood next to us watching carefully. In the middle Ashley saw the home teacher and said "It's the home Teacher!" But otherwise she was very quite and sweet. Afterwards everyone hugged us all and it was a very sweet and precious time for our family. Storie bent down and talked to Brinkley asking her to promise one thing... That she would never forget this day. Brinkley promised and I finally let go of the tears I had been holding back. Last to come up was Christy, Josh and Sandy. I'm sure it was a hard and yet beautiful thing for them to witness. We embraced them with emotion that the last two years had brought for each of us. All of us grateful to each other and all of us happy for the day we had been praying for. Maybe words are not enough to describe the beautiful feeling that it was for us all. Afterward we had a wonderful time taking pictures with everyone and then eating together and visiting. It was a beautiful day, and I thank my Heavenly Father for all the miracles granted so that it could come to pass.

January Fun...

We had a very fun week last week. Pinewood derby with the Singles ward. Ashley's dance recital. Ashley's preschool music program. And my Mary Kay Girls Night out, foot spa...

More Good News...

We got a call today that a court date has been set for Ashley's adoption finalization hearing. Monday the 11th is the day! Ironically today (Jan. 6th) is the very day 2 years ago that Ashley came to live with us. Wow, that was a really interesting day for me. I knew that they were going to be bringing her after church and I was very excited, but also very stressed out. Did I have what we needed? Was she staying for a day, a week, a year or forever? Would it be ok for Brinkley? Would she be able to bond with us? I don't know, I was full of all kinds of emotions. That morning I also got called by the new bishopric to be a ward missionary in charge of all the welcomes for new families. This was to big for me and I didn't want to accept. Especially with the uncertainty my life held on that particular day. I tried to tell them the situation and they asked me to accept anyway. I sat in Sacrament meeting that day and cried the whole time. Something in me knew that my little family of 3 was about to change forever in a big way. Later in Relief Society when I was still crying sister Burton asked if I was ok and if there was anything she could do. I was so embarrassed, but will remember her love forever. I think it was all the unknown and extreme stress I was feeling.
That afternoon, the Gines came with Ahley and her things to our house. Tom had never even met her yet... The kids played toys while the adults worked things out. I can't imagine how hard it must have been for them, knowing that they would be leaving her with us. It was so obvious that they loved her so much and were trying to do the best things for her and her life. Finally with trust, faith and a bond that can never be broken they left her in our care. We hurried to get ready and went for our Sunday night ritual of visiting family. Within 10 minutes Ashley was calling me mom.... It's still so interesting to me that she was looking for that core family unit. We tell our kids all the time how we were looking for them and praying for them, and I think they were doing the same for us.
Anyway, We went to Tom's family first where grandma and grandpa were able to meet her for the first time. Then we went to my families were we joined Aspen's birthday party. Everyone loved Ashley and she had fun with the kids and bonded right away with me and the grand parents. I think it was that night pulling in the drive way she asked if this was Ashley's house? I told her yes, but I'm sure she could feel the uncertainty in my voice. Now after 2 years I'm going to be able to promise her with all of my heart that this is her house and her family and her life. It's going to be amazing :)

December 2009

We had a wonderful Christmas Season this year! The kids got all that they had dreamed of for Christmas. Ashley got her purple castle, Brinkley her pet shop house and Colter's Jammies said whatever Santa doesn't bring me Grandma will! That about sums it up :). We also took a trip to West Yellowstone snowmobiling and swimming. We had a great time and we are looking forward to the new year ahead.

FINALLY!!!

Today is truly a day to mark on the calendar as a miracle! Our lawyer called this morning to let me know that she received notice from the courts that the Judge decided to terminate parental rights of both birth mother and birth father. We don't even have to have a hearing to prove our case, it's just done. I really thought there was no way that this would happen, so it is a huge miracle to me that it did! Now Ashley is free and we can move forward with her adoption. Home study, court appearance, finalization, name change and then to the Temple... This part I can handle. It's been a long stressful 2 years, but now it's finally going to be over and I will finally be able to promise her that we will be a family forever :)

The Hair Cut!

They say all kids do it... but this is a first at our house. Ashley decided it would be a great idea to cut her own hair yesterday. I'm horrified! You can't really tell from this picture, but trust me she got some good chunks out and now has bangs. Good thing she has curly hair... I'm really hoping that it hides most of the very short pieces...

New Endeaor...

Well, recently I took on a new endeavor (like I needed one more thing in my life :)) when I decided to become a Mary Kay consultant. I'm just starting and need to get some volunteers to lend me their faces for practice. It's really fun to play with makeup and I just love their products, so I hope it will be a good experience. If anyone has a minute check out my website at

I'll try not to bug anyone... but I am so grateful for such a supportive family :)!

1st day of school...

The girls were so excited to start school. Brinkley got to ride the bus and had a great first day at Kindergarten. Ashley started Preschool and a dance class. She definitely likes the dancing the best :)...
